I am a teacher, boat builder, sculptor, furniture maker and lifelong woodworker.
As a sixth generation Portlander, I draw inspiration from my deep roots and love of the Pacific Northwest. My grandparents on my fathers side were particularly interested in the preservation of our rich natural heritage in this part of the country, and they passed that passion on to me. I always work to minimize the environmental impact of the pieces I make through the use materials from sustainable sources and through building quality pieces that, with minimal upkeep, will last for generations.
Through the years my focus in woodworking has shifted back and forth between furniture, boatbuilding, and sculpture. I love how the lessons I learn in each of these different forms of woodworking influence the ways I approach the others.
When I'm not working with wood I can often be found in one of my hand built boats on the water, or hiking in the mountains.
